Patrick Stewart was born in 1940, so his mother might've been earning that in a weaving shed up to the 1960s, I wish there was a date. If his mother had been earning this in 1940, it'd be worth around £100 today or around $170. I don't mean to be snarky, it's just that using the 1971 value is quite misleading as average wages had become fairly high by that point. £3 10s is remarkably good money for the '40s too, especially for women. Not belittling his mother, just some context.
