It’s at a camp for people that are differently-abled. I applied to be a teen mentor for their program “Terrific Teens.”
Woo! I hope you get the job. I remember being in a summer camp where the first day involved karate and archery.
The karate instructor asked me to assume a posture I found anatomically improbable, and I suggested in reply that the karate instructor assume a somewhat different anatomically improbable pose. So that didn’t go very well.
Then, at archery class, I was trying to concentrate on my aim when a fellow-camper kept teasing me. In retrospect, it would have been wiser to relax my bowstring BEFORE turning to face him and tell him off. I never released that arrow, but then again I didn’t finish the first day at that camp either.
I’m not sure they used the word “terrific” to describe me.
I do know that one of my school counselors described me as “severely gifted”. If I ever write memoirs of my childhood, I’ve got a title for the book.
